Bourges is a city of sixty thousand people, with a dense cultural scene and a music festival that makes it known across France — and not one broadcast outlet of its own. Bourges Télévision came out of that: local life deserves better than occasional coverage from Orléans or Paris.

The project started in November 2024 as a student venture with entrepreneurial ambitions. I've chaired it since October 2025, and run its art direction from day one.

What I do there

  • Full art direction. Name, logotype, brand guidelines, type system, on-air branding, UX/UI for the digital properties. Everything the audience sees comes off this desk.
  • Format design. Shows, short-form capsules, news bulletins, talk shows. Writing a schedule before you have an antenna is deciding who you're going to be.
  • Production tooling and workflows. SPX graphics templates, file naming conventions, automation. The least glamorous part and the most decisive one: it determines whether a volunteer team can publish with the regularity of a newsroom.
  • Structuring. Strategic roadmap, transitional non-profit framework ahead of incorporation, forecast budget, internal organisation.
  • Representation. Negotiating with the City of Bourges and the Region, managing local partnerships, being the public face of the project.

What it taught me

That you don't launch a media outlet with a camera — you launch it with a naming convention. That credibility with a local authority is earned by hitting deadlines, not by presenting beautiful mockups. And that art directing a channel isn't drawing a logo: it's writing a system thirty people can apply without me.
